Our vision is to champion connection, diversity and creativity in the outdoors.

● Our Story

Meet Our Founder

Growing up between East London and the mountains of Madeira, I'd always known how restorative nature could be. In Madeira, landscapes were part of everyday life—places to gather, explore, reflect and feel connected. But moving between different worlds also showed me how easily that relationship can be disrupted. For many people in diaspora communities, particularly those living in cities, access to natural spaces can feel distant—not only physically, but culturally.

● Our Mission & Philosophy

Our Principles

●
Creativity Over Perfection

We celebrate bold ideas, happy accidents, and the magic that happens when things don’t go as planned.

●
Making Made Accessible

We believe the arts should be available to everyone, with reduced costs and learning support making our programmes more inclusive.

●
Arts With Care

We aim to allow you build a creative practice not only inspired by nature but also in tune with the environment. We can’t just take, we must give back too.

●
Environmental Literacy For All

The world is becoming increasingly disengaged with nature - we want to give you the opportunity to learn about it and reconnect.

How it all began

How it all began *

After graduating from Central Saint Martins, I found myself at a bit of a crossroad. Around the same time I was diagnosed with ADHD, and like a lot of people, I was trying to figure out what kind of life I actually wanted to build.

So I said ‘let’s go touch some grass’ and moved to the Outer Hebrides.

Life there couldn't have been more different. Days were slower. Creativity wasn't something you squeezed in between emails; it happened while walking the coastline, sharing meals, making things with your hands and spending time outdoors. For the first time in a long time, I had the headspace to think.

● About

I recognised that many outdoor and environmental spaces have not always felt welcoming to those who haven't traditionally been represented in these spaces.

Rather than asking people to adapt to existing outdoor culture, I started imagining something different.

The Sticks brings together creativity, community and nature in a way that feels welcoming, playful and culturally relevant. Through walks, workshops, retreats and shared meals, we're creating spaces where people can slow down, make things together and build deeper relationships with the landscapes around them.

Because everyone deserves somewhere to rest, create and belong.
